Keep a shoreline observation notebook
From a lawful and suitable viewpoint, describe the shapes, colors and sounds you notice. Add the date and a photograph reference. Leave natural objects where they are and distinguish observed changes from explanations you have not verified.
Keep the finished note with its date and source material. Return to it when you repeat the exercise, and add what changed rather than replacing the earlier observation.
